Sweet n Sassy Sunshine Card & Video

Hi there! Happy BBTB2 Monday!  Today I have a card to share with you, Sunshine Reader.  The challenge cut of the week at BBTB2 is the SUN cut from Cricut's DOODLECHARMS cartridge.  In addition to using the sun cut, we also have a sponsor for this week's project, Sweet n Sassy Stamps.

We recieve several digital stamp images from which to choose to make our projects.  I liked this cute little scholarly mouse.  For details on how I made my card, please see the video below.  You will notice that thanks to MFK's (My friend Kathy's) great shopping abilities I am now the owner of a PINK tripod.  The camera angle is MUCH better this week.  Less arm; more project!!

Be sure to go by BBTB2 and check out everyone's fabulous projects.   I went with sweet and simple for my project but not everyone took my simplistic approach to this challenge.  I was wow'ed when I uploaded my card and got a sneak peek of the design team projects.

Snow Fun with Doodlecharms Snowman

I had a wonderful long weekend at the lake with my scrapping girlfriends scrapping, laughing, eating (!) and catching up. The productive MOJO was flowing and we all accomplished a great deal. I will share more with you later in the week, but I will begin with today's Bitten By The Bug 2 project.

The assigned challenge cut for the week is the snowman from Doodlecharms. We had to use the snowman to create any project we wanted. I made this cute snow card.

I used my gypsy so that I could include the pre-welded Snow with snowflakes title from Gypsy Wanderings. I embellished with additional snowflakes from Gypsy Wanderings and Jolee's. And of course the tag background was also from GW.

The bottom border was created using a Martha Stewart punch and the strip was topped with a Let it Snow! ribbon.

I dressed my snowman in clothing from Everyday Paper Dolls and finished him off with black pearl accents. And of course the final touch was an assortment of doodles and dots.

I will be back tomorrow with the Gypsy Spot challenge and later in the week I will share some of my weekend projects.

Autumn Apples

I think fall may be my favorite of the seasons. It follows those hot days of summer with cool breezes and a beautifully colorful display of leaves. It proceeds those bitter cold days of winter and trudging through the snow (can you tell I grew up in Michigan?). Ironically here in South Carolina we rarely have bitten cold days or snow through which to trudge. But… I think this love of fall goes back to growing up in Michigan and viewing fall as the in-between days. Fall days were filled with trips to the apple orchard where fresh cider was being made, fall festivals with clam chowders and pumpkins, apple pies and piles of colorful leaves.

In the spirit of my childhood days in Michigan I made this card, Autumn Apples. The card features a basket and apples from the Doodlecharms cartridge. You will only need two cartridges to make this card, Doodlecharms and Plantin Schoolbook. The cut file contains five pages, the first being a preview only and should not be cut.

The cut file can be found in the list of free downloadable cut files on the left side of the blog page, down a bit. Click on the name of the file and follow the link to Media Fire.  You can then download the cut file to your Cricut projects for future use.

Happy Autumn Apples!

Thank Goodness for Ice Cream Cones

** Cute file has been added to the downloadable list in the left hand column.**

The designers' challenge this week over at Bitten by the Bug was to use the Doodlecharms cartridge, any cut we wanted, as long as we used the border feature. You know the border feature - three of any item on a single key stroke. I actually planned a cute lady bug card, titled Always a Lady (ha, ha, ha), but then I just could not resist the ice cream cones. And the ice cream flavors!!!! And the chocolate cones!!! Okay, you get the idea. I don't just love my family, the cricut, scrapping, my pj's, and Hello Kitty... I love ice cream cones! Ice cream cones are OH SO MUCH better than ice cream in a dish!

As luck would have it, I also needed to make a thank you card. And guess what 6 ice cream cones gives you? Enough cones to spell THANKS!!! I used BasicGrey red paper to cut the letters with George. I wanted them to pop, but not to take over the card.

The card itself is cut in bright pink bazzil card stock. I used the border punch along the edge of the card, as well as the edge of an "under skirt" piece. I used two different ribbons, running vertically, across the background of the card. I also used the same two ribbons (and a flower) in the bow.

The ice cream cones were cut in two layers. The base cut was in bazzil brown, and the top cut was the ice cream only (mint chocolate chip, cherry chip, strawberry, vanilla, and strawberry with strawberries!). And of course a sparkling cherry on top of each cone.

I used stickles not only on the cherries and berry chips, but also on the diagonals on the cones. I think I should go right now and make a cone like the "A" cone, and then perhaps move on to the "K" cone!!!! Mmmmmmm.

Hello Who, Bunny???

It's Bitten by the Bug Monday and you know what that means.... Time to post this week's challenge. Regina asked the team to use the bunny head from Doodlecharms and create any type of project we would like. If you have not been by BBTB, you are missing some AMAZING projects... They're all cute, cute, cute!

What did I do? I decapitated Hello Kitty!! Really, I did! I used the Hello Kitty cartridge along with Doodlecharms and made "April Showers Bunny". I cut the umbrella Kitty, removed Kitty's head and replaced it with the Bunny head. I had to cut an outline of Bunny so that it could blend with the kitty outline. I did this by layering two bunnies, one slightly smaller and inside the other and cutting it with the same paper as I used for Kitty.

I love the yellow swirl umbrella and Bunny's boots and rain coat. She is all set to splash around in some spring mud puddles!!!
